What is Discover Quintet?
Since 2013, music students have been discovering the joy of hard work in Discover Quintet, a 5-day workshop. Our students learn to listen, play, relate and improve their instrumental skills as a small group, a team. Discover Quintet opens new worlds of music, with the opportunity to receive real-time feedback with constructive help. Students learn to trust each other through daily rehearsals, all coached. LOCATION: DAVIES UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CONGREGATION, 7400 Temple Hill Road, Temple Hills, MD 20748. Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:30pm, JULY 27- JULY 31, 2026.

WHAT WILL YOU DISCOVER?
If you like playing in band, you are going to LOVE playing in a quintet! You will easily hear yourself and learn to play proudly, confidently. With nationally respected chamber music coaches guiding the ensemble, you will learn to listen to and trust your four fellow-musicians, creating music in the same small ensemble for 5 days.
WHEN? ELIGIBILITY? Discover Quintet will conclude with a 30-minute Friday performance at 2pm (7/31). Auditions are open to current 8th graders (entering 9th in Fall 2026) through college seniors -- exceptions may be made for younger or older students based on proficiency and a need for your instrument. To be eligible, students must already play one of these instruments and learn their assigned parts before July 27:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn or Bassoon
